Gaza Health Ministry: 15,523 killed so far

(Patria) - The Hamas-run Health Ministry announced on Sunday that 15,523 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war with Israel, AFP reported.

Seventy percent of the casualties are women and children, said ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra, adding that 41,316 people have been wounded.

"In the past hours, only 316 dead and 664 wounded have been recovered from the rubble and transferred to hospitals, but many others are still under the rubble," Al-Qudra said.
Israel has vowed to eliminate Hamas in response to the October 7 attack.

A week-long truce, brokered by Qatar with the support of Egypt and the United States, led to the release of 80 Israeli hostages in exchange for 240 Palestinian prisoners.

But that pause collapsed and hostilities resumed on Friday, with both sides blaming each other for violating the terms of the truce.
