(Patria) - The U.S. will use all means at our disposal against those who help Milorad Dodik in corruption and enable him to exploit the people of RS for his own benefit, said U.S. Department of the Treasury spokesperson Matthew Miller, commenting on new sanctions imposed by that country against seven companies and two individuals from RS.
He stated that the U.S. "condemns the persistent efforts of RS President Milorad Dodik to undermine regional peace frameworks that have brought stability and security to Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
"Milorad Dodik, who has been sanctioned by the United States, has used his official position to accumulate personal wealth through companies linked to him and his son Igor Dodik. For example, in 2024, Igor and Milorad exerted their control over high-ranking BiH government officials to manipulate the draft state budget of BiH so that a state-level contract could be awarded to an entity within Dodik's network, outside of the bidding process.
Dodik continues to be a destabilizing actor in the region. His recent proposal for the “separation” of RS from BiH continues his clearly anti-Dayton activities and threatens the peace and stability of the region. By attacking BiH's constitutional framework, Dodik is jeopardizing the country's future in Euro-Atlantic institutions," Miller added.
