US Secretary of Defense threatened Iran with the biggest strikes yet, oil and fossil fuel prices rise

(Patria) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sought to gain the support of other regional powers in several phone calls.

Speaking with his counterparts in Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan, Araghchi called for vigilance and coordination to counter the destabilizing and escalating actions of the US and Israel.

Araghchi described the attacks by the US and Israel on Iranian infrastructure as attempts to escalate tensions, emphasizing that Iran will spare no effort in defending its sovereignty.

According to the spokesperson for the joint staff of the Iranian army, Israel's attack on the South Pars gas field in Iran was a “grave mistake”.

He warned that “the next attacks on your energy infrastructure and the infrastructure of your allies will not stop until complete destruction” if Iranian energy facilities are targeted again.

“And our response will be much harsher than last night's attacks,” added the spokesperson.

Iran previously attacked key energy infrastructure in neighboring Qatar last night, and this morning the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia were also targeted in retaliation for Israel's attack on Iranian gas fields.

Fossil fuel prices continue to rise, and the price of oil reached a new peak this morning since the war in Iran began. The price of a barrel briefly reached $118.

Pete Hegseth, the US Secretary of Defense, said at a press conference today that the US will intensify airstrikes against Iran again today.

“Today we will carry out the biggest strikes yet,” Hegseth said.
