Minister of Defence Helez meets with US military attaché

(Patria) - Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez today received the military attaché of the United States of America to BiH, Brigadier Eric Adams.

The interlocutors discussed further development and activities of the Armed Forces of BiH, as well as the political situation in Europe and the region. Brigadier Adams congratulated Minister Helez on the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina received the green light to start negotiations for full membership in the European Union.

Helez emphasized that he is proud that the Council of Ministers of BiH, in which he is the deputy
chairperson, has done more on that path in one year than other compositions of the Council of Ministers of BiH have done over many years.

„With the opening of negotiations for full EU membership, the real work for BiH on the
Euro-Atlantic path now begins, and we will continue to help you in that,“ said the US military attaché to BiH.

Minister Helez particularly noted that he is extremely pleased that in NATO's public communication, the fact is highlighted that the doors of full membership in the NATO alliance are open for BiH, Ukraine and Georgia, and that our country is the only one among those states that has a Membership Action Plan (MAP).

„Thank you for having the key support of the United States of America in that, as well as in confronting the malign influences that try to hinder us in that,“ said Minister Zukan Helez.

Brigadier Adams also stated that the recent visit of members of the North Atlantic Council (NAC) to Bosnia and Herzegovina was very successful and useful for BiH. The interlocutors also discussed challenges in the process of procurement and modernization of the BiH Armed Forces, as well as the process of rejuvenating the personnel of the Armed Forces of BiH.
