Minister Mektić held talks with Commander of NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo Giselle Wilz

Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić met today in Sarajevo with Commander of NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier General Giselle Wilz, with whom he discussed key security challenges for BiH and the region, and priorities for future cooperation, it was announced from the relevant ministry, reports the Patria News Agency.  

Cooperation has been very intensive in the past period in the field of protection and rescue, especially when it comes to joint exercises and training of civil protection members. This will continue through two exercises during this and next year, hosted by BiH, at which representatives of 25 countries will test the readiness for joint action in case of natural disasters.

Minister Mektić informed Brigadier General Wilz about the measures taken in the prevention of and fight against terrorism, confirming BiH's commitment to an uncompromising stance against this global threat. 

He added that the second strategic priority is the fight against corruption and that, despite pressures, security agencies will continue to fight this scourge even more strongly.

Wilz positively assessed the work of the Ministry of Security of BiH to date regarding the improvement of citizen security, and the fulfillment of obligations and cooperation with the EU and NATO.

She expressed NATO's full commitment to the continuation of joint activities and emphasized that the Ministry of Security can count on the assistance and cooperation of this organization in the future, the statement reads.
