Minister Mektić: Let the BiH Prosecutor's Office state what they have done in the fight against corruption and crime

Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić stated at today's press conference that he condemns all forms of threats directed at the Vice-President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council Ružica Jukić, and emphasized that he has nothing to do with them, reports the Patria agency.

Mektić said that the work, or rather the inaction, of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, as well as the entire judicial system, was criticized on the public Facebook group "Arrest Mektić, arrest him", and according to his knowledge, this group on the social network has 4-5 thousand users. The non-governmental organization Treći blok also issued similar criticisms on this Facebook group.

- These people from the HJPC recognized themselves in these threats and issued a statement that someone is insulting them or threatening them from that social network. I explained that I do not stand behind it. People have come forward saying they were threatened, but that is not important for the BiH judiciary. They want to make victims of themselves. Under the motto that nothing will deter them from their fight. God help them - said Mektić.

He called on the BiH Prosecutor's Office to state what they have done this year in the fight against crime and corruption.
He emphasized that BiH literally has no judicial system and that because of this, we are a broken state.

He added that the acting Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, Gordana Tadić, sent a letter to the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies stating that Ružica Jukić is being threatened and that she has been granted protection by the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies. Mektić also spoke with the director of the DCPB, Mirsad Vilić, who said that he did not have a written decision on protection, but an oral one.

- I repeat, Ružica Jukić has no right to protection on any basis, nor is she a protected person. She is an ordinary citizen like everyone else. But some like to have a small house in front of their apartment, a weekend house, a flashing car, etc. - said Mektić.

He stated that if Jukić had received threats, she should have contacted the competent police service, either in Tuzla or Sarajevo, or wherever she lives.

Mektić particularly lashed out at the BiH Prosecutor's Office, saying that their response that "a case has been formed" means nothing.

- I exposed that forming a case means nothing. It is a received report and the case is archived - he said, adding that a case was also formed against him based on an anonymous report. He said that this report was already published in the media.
