(Patria) - Israel is facing increasing international pressure due to the number of casualties in Gaza, but is working to expand the "window of legitimacy", said Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen.
"We have two or three weeks until the international pressure really intensifies, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to expand the window of legitimacy. The fighting will continue for as long as necessary," said Eli Cohen, agencies quoting his spokesperson.
Last month, Israel launched a campaign to destroy Hamas after members of the Palestinian group stormed southern Israel. About 1,200 people were killed and 240 taken hostage to Gaza, according to Israeli data, on the deadliest day in its 75-year history.
Since Israel launched its offensive on the Gaza Strip, more than half of the population has been left homeless, over 11,000 people have been killed, 40 percent of whom are children.
