Milkan Gojković, accused of rape in Grbavica, tried without public presence

The trial of Milkan Gojković, accused of a crime committed in Sarajevo's Grbavica neighborhood, was held without public presence before the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, BIRN reported, as carried by the news agency Patria.

At this trial, two witnesses of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo gave testimony, and the public was excluded for the protection of the injured party.

Nives Kanevčev, prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo, proposed the exclusion of the public during the hearing of both witnesses, and Zorana Čarkić, defense attorney for the accused Gojković, stated that she does not oppose the Prosecution's proposal.

Gojković is accused of raping a female person on September 29, 1992, as a member of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), in the area of the Grbavica neighborhood, and acting contrary to conventions on the protection of civilian persons.

Gojković is defending himself from freedom, and certain restrictive measures have been imposed on him.

The date of the continuation of the trial will be announced later, as reported by NAP.
