Milei: The United States and Israel's war against Iran is the 'right thing to do'

(Patria) - Argentine President Javier Milei stated that a joint war by the United States and Israel against Iran is the "right thing to do," signing the so-called Isaac Accords aimed at deepening bilateral ties between Israel and Latin American countries, AFP reported.

Yesterday, during his third visit to Israel as president, Milei confirmed Argentina's support for the war against Iran, referring to his government's earlier decision to declare the Islamic Republic's Revolutionary Guard a "terrorist organization".

"We have expressed our firm support for the United States and Israel in their war against terrorism and against the Iranian regime, not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because our countries are sisters in suffering," Milei said in a joint statement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"Argentina has been the victim of cowardly terrorist attacks on AMIA and the Israeli embassy, both instigated by the Islamic Republic of Iran," he added.

Argentina has accused Iran of not cooperating in the investigation into the 1994 Buenos Aires bombing, which killed 85 people and injured more than 300 at a Jewish community center.

Earlier, in 1992, an explosion at the Israeli embassy killed 29 and injured 200 people. Argentine courts have blamed Iran for both attacks, which Iran has denied involvement in and refused to hand over suspects.

"To this day, we continue to demand justice," said the libertarian leader, an open supporter of both Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.

"We reiterate our willingness to move the Argentine embassy to Jerusalem as soon as conditions permit. We consider it necessary, but above all, just," he added.

The US-backed Isaac Accords are an initiative designed to strengthen Israel's ties with Latin America, mirroring the Abraham Accords under which several Arab countries normalized relations with Israel during Trump's first term.

Israel and Argentina also signed an agreement to launch direct flights between Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv starting in November. Milei said this would strengthen the "unbreakable bond" between the two countries.

Netanyahu praised Milei for showing "moral clarity" in his stance of standing with Israel.

"President Milei has shown this by standing with the Jewish people, standing against antisemitic slanders, standing in our time of need, standing when we are fighting the battle of civilization against barbarism," Netanyahu said.

Argentina is home to the largest Jewish community in Latin America, numbering nearly 300,000 people, mostly living in Buenos Aires.

Earlier on Sunday, Milei visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City, considered the holiest site where Jews are permitted to pray. He also visited the site in February 2024 and June 2025.
