Milan's La Scala held a concert at the National Theatre Sarajevo

The renowned La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra performed last night at a packed National Theatre Sarajevo to mark 20 years of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes the BH news agency Patria.

Maestro Ottavio Dantone conducted the Philharmonic, and said he hoped the notes of this concert could make a small contribution and inspire mutual understanding and better harmony in our society.

- I am moved and honored to be able to participate in this important commemoration in Sarajevo.

According to Ruggero Corrias, the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to BiH, La Scala's "Concert for Peace" brought a message of hope for a better tomorrow for this country.

- July 11th marked 20 years since the tragic events in Srebrenica, but today we want to think about tomorrow, the future of BiH, which we want to see in Europe soon. La Scala's Philharmonic brings notes of hope and reconciliation - Corrias emphasized.

The audience had the opportunity to hear Mozart's Symphony No. 7 in D major, arias from Handel's "Resurrection" and Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater" for soprano, contralto, and strings. The soloists were soprano Roberta Invernizzi and contralto Delphine Galou.

The Italian Ambassador said he was happy that three members of the Presidency of BiH were present at the National Theatre Sarajevo. The concert was also attended by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paolo Gentiloni.
