Milanović again 'in action': No taboos, genocide is a political metric

(Patria) - The President of the Republic of Croatia is participating in a grape harvest organized for heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Croatia - "Diplomatic Harvest". He briefly commented on reports of his remarks about the genocide in Srebrenica during his stay in Slovenia.

In what context was the genocide in Srebrenica discussed?

"Are there any other questions you are interested in regarding Croatia?", Milanović replied at the beginning, but after the question was repeated, he answered:

"It was a conversation over coffee. Beware of people who descend so shallowly and low, it is clear that they are dirty and low and will not say things, in this case, they are specifically inventing".

"It is in the interest of everyone in BiH to respect the Dayton Peace Agreement. Is that a sufficient reason to go to Dodik's estate?", Milanović asked.

"It is not normal for me, after a day celebrating the liberation of Jajce, the old town of Hrvoje Vukčić Hrvatinić, instead of socializing with Bosniaks and their representatives, whom the Croatian Army allowed to return to their city without firing a shot, to go to Dodik. But these are the times. The Croatian Army liberated Jajce, no one else", said Milanović.

"I feel the need to talk about what genocide is and what should be genocide and where the line is, because let's remember, it is a political metric. So, what constitutes genocide is a political metric. At one point, a group of people defined it, and another group of people ruled on it. It is not a law of nature. We can explain the falling of rain with all physical and chemical parameters. The motives for genocide, what it actually is, is a matter of discussion. That is why there are no taboos. There should be no 'sacred cows' except for fundamental human abilities, which I have shown many times, including going to Srebrenica at the first opportunity as prime minister. But to allow myself to be bullied and to have to watch every word I say and explain every word I say, I am humiliating both the country and the people I represent. Let everyone draw their own conclusions, and those who dare to turn conversations from coffee breaks into official lunches where every declaration has already been adopted, these are people who are not worthy of my comment, let alone of sitting at a table with me. As things stand, they won't be for much longer", Milanović stated.

Let us recall, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH sent a démarche to Milanović and Croatia due to information that he minimized, and even denied, the genocide in Srebrenica at the Brdo-Brijuni Process dinner. The Mothers of Srebrenica, the Potočari Memorial Center, the Islamic Community, and numerous politicians reacted. The visit to Milorad Dodik in Laktaši also caused the anger of many, after he attended the commemoration of the liberation of Jajce yesterday, reports N1.
