(Patria) – U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Afghanistan on Monday for an unannounced visit to support the implementation of the historic peace agreement between official Washington and the Afghan Taliban, reached at the end of February.
Pompeo landed in Kabul where he will meet with the President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and his political rival Abdullah Abdullah, who also claims to be the president of the country.
The peace agreement has been violated several times in the meantime, Reuters reports.
