Mićo Jurišić sentenced to 11 years in prison for crime in Prijedor

(Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced former reserve police officer of the Tukovi unit within the Prijedor Public Security Station (SJB) Mićo Jurišić to 11 years in prison for a crime against humanity in the Prijedor area in 1992.

Jurišić was convicted on five counts of the indictment for persecution, murders, attempted murders and inhumane treatment.

“The Chamber assessed all evidence, in mutual connection and individually, and unequivocally concluded that the accused committed all elements of the criminal offense for which he was convicted,” said Judge Minka Kreho, BIRN reported.

By the same verdict, Jurišić was acquitted on three counts of the indictment.

Also charged alongside Jurišić was Dragomir Tintor, who has since passed away.

The trial of Jurišić lasted from May 2018, and in closing arguments, the State Prosecutor's Office requested a conviction, while the Defense stated that Jurišić's guilt had not been proven.

An appeal against this verdict is possible.
