Michel: EU must accept new members by 2030.

(Patria) - President of the European Council Charles Michel will speak later today at the Bled Strategic Forum.

On that occasion, he will emphasize that the European Union should be ready to accept new members by 2030, the Financial Times (FT) reported today.

- Now we must address enlargement as one of our main challenges. Both for the EU and for its future member states - Michel said in a speech published by FT.

He will also address ways in which the EU can help Ukraine, which is described as "the poorest candidate ever", amid the Russian military operation, Pobjeda reports.

In addition to Ukraine, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey also have candidate status.
