MFS–EMMAUS: New aid convoy for Syria

The second aid convoy of the local humanitarian organization MFS-EMMAUS with five trucks of flour will depart for Syria on Wednesday, January 25. The second aid convoy follows after MFS–EMMAUS delivered the first truck of flour aid to the people of Syria in mid-December, Patria reports.

- We have continued with this humanitarian action and, thanks to the great response and solidarity of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we have prepared another 5 trucks of flour. The convoy, named 'BiH for Syria', is traveling to the Turkish-Syrian border, from where the aid will be distributed to the people in Syria. This time, the convoy will be accompanied by several of our employees who will have the opportunity to directly deliver the collected aid and assist refugees in the camps. We thank everyone who has made donations and enabled this aid convoy to depart for Syria - said the director of MFS-EMMAUS, Hamzalija Okanović.

The first 25 tons of flour, which were sent on December 14 last year in the convoy "Open the way to Aleppo", were delivered to one of the 46 bakeries owned by the Turkish organization IHH (Insani Yardim Vakfi) in Syria. Flatbreads are baked there, which are distributed primarily to people in Syria, refugees in collective accommodation, but also to refugees in camps in Turkey.

The campaign to help the Syrian people will last throughout 2017, so all those who wish to contribute and have not yet done so can do so in the following ways.
