Merkel: Terrorists, we will defend our freedom stronger than ever

German Chancellor Angela Merkel addressed the public and commented on the terrorist attacks in Paris. She told the people of France that Germany sympathizes with them and stands by them, CNN reports, according to the Patria News Agency.

- The people who died last night only wanted to live freely in a free city. Instead, they were killed. Those who did this hate freedom. This attack on freedom has not only hit Paris, we must all respond to it, Merkel said.

The German government is in constant contact with the French government and offers cooperation and assistance in the investigation and fight against terrorists. 

- We want to be clear. We Europeans live for friendship, respect for others, tolerance. We know that our freedom is stronger than any terror. I say to the terrorists that these are European values and we will defend them stronger than ever, Merkel said.
