Merkel sends Minister Schmidt to determine how Germany can help farmers in BiH

Ambassador of BiH to the Federal Republic of Germany Željko Janjetović spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The meeting took place during the traditional annual reception organized for heads of missions of diplomatic-consular representations based in Berlin, which was held at Meseberg Castle, near Berlin, the MFA BiH announced, reports the Patria News Agency.

Chancellor Merkel informed that the Minister of Agriculture in the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, Christian Schmidt, will visit BiH on July 13, where, in accordance with the results of the recent meeting with the members of the Presidency of BiH in Berlin, the minister will determine how Germany can help farmers in BiH, in order to eliminate the negative consequences of the adaptation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement.

Chancellor Merkel told the ambassador that she hopes this visit will resolve the problems due to which the SAA has not been adapted and that BiH will continue its path towards the EU. We all expect that, said the Chancellor.

Ambassador Janjetović thanked Chancellor Merkel for the support that the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and she personally provide to BiH, particularly highlighting the recent meeting with the members of the Presidency of BiH in Berlin, where clear and unambiguous support was given to the efforts being made in BiH to persevere in the process towards the EU and for BiH to obtain candidate status.

Ambassador Janjetović also spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who sent a clear message that "the whole of Europe is waiting for BiH to delight it with positive news these days" and that the EU Council of Foreign Affairs, in July, will give a positive answer to BiH's application for membership in the EU, according to the statement.

Meetings of BiH officials with the German minister

German Federal Minister of Agriculture and Nutrition Christian Schmidt will arrive in BiH tomorrow, July 13, and will meet with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić, as well as the Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalić and Minister of Agriculture Šemsudin Dedić.
