(Patria) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed shock over the armed attacks in Vienna, emphasizing that Germany stands with neighboring Austria in solidarity and in the fight against 'Islamist terrorism'.
- In these terrible hours when Vienna has become the target of terrorist violence, my thoughts are with the citizens and security forces facing danger, according to the Chancellor's statement, which her spokesperson published on Twitter on Tuesday.
Merkel also stated that 'we Germans stand by our Austrian friends in compassion and solidarity. The fight against Islamist terrorism is our common fight.'
