Mercedes crashed into a group of people in Stuttgart, several injured

(Patria) - Several people were injured after a driver of a dark luxury SUV, a Mercedes G-Class, crashed into a group of people in the German city of Stuttgart.

The driver has been detained, a police spokesperson said.



German tabloid Bild writes that this was not a terrorist attack, citing police sources.

The police announced that a total of eight people were injured, three of them seriously.

At least one person had to be resuscitated, police officers stated, adding that there is no longer any danger to the public.

The driver was not injured and has been arrested, police also said. His interrogation is underway.



The incident occurred at the Olgaeck tram station in the center of Stuttgart.
