BHRT Management Silent: Employees Without Income, Loans Unpaid, Unable to Get Medical Treatment

The Management Board of the BHRT Trade Union held an extraordinary session where it was concluded that the General Director, along with the management, clearly displays a dilettantish approach to managing BHRT, reports the Patria agency.

- In the past few days, we have witnessed a complete collapse and irresponsible actions by the General Director and management of RTV BiH. Namely, since the middle of last week, negotiations have been ongoing between the General Director and the Independent Trade Union of Workers at BHRT regarding whether to pay the transportation allowance and meal allowance, or to wait until the end of the month to pay salaries, and in the following month, two meal allowances and two transportation allowances.

It is a shameful fact that the General Director, with a management contract and a salary of several thousand convertible marks, leaves such a decision to individuals from the Independent Trade Union of Workers at BHRT, completely shirking his responsibility at a time when BHRT is on its knees and employees are on the brink of existence.

The union states that those responsible are handsomely paid but do not want to take responsibility.

- Without any empathy for the employees, who are on the verge of starvation and deprived of the most basic human and workers' rights, through such actions and by "washing their hands" of any responsibility, the General Director, along with the rest of the management, shifts all responsibility to the Independent Trade Union, which is supposed to decide whether it is better for the employees to receive the meal allowance and transportation allowance immediately or their salary by the end of the current month, of course, without any obligations to the state, social and pension insurance funds, including employee loan obligations.

The General Director and the Business Board have created an alibi for themselves and absolved themselves of legal responsibility for all irregularities and criminal acts committed in the past few years.

All responsibility towards BHRT employees is being taken over by individuals from the Independent Trade Union of Workers at BHRT who have approved the shameful decisions of the management, which are contrary to the Statute as well as all known norms of trade union activity in the world, thus directly siding with them.

The union states that employees can no longer get their health insurance cards stamped even for a single day, colleagues with diagnoses of chronic illnesses are condemned to death because they cannot obtain (buy) prescribed therapy due to the management, with astronomical incomes, being unable to provide health insurance.

- Employees who have loan obligations are receiving warnings, and employees and their families who have mortgage loans are threatened with eviction because the current management has refused their loans and has not paid them to the banks. As a union fighting for the rights of all workers, whether they are members of the BHRT Trade Union or not, we will never take on the responsibility and obligations of the General Director and management, and we will always seek protection of our rights within the framework of trade union activities and legal norms that regulate trade union activities as well as employer obligations. Due to all of the above, we bring the following conclusion.

The BHRT Trade Union will, as early as next week (Tuesday, September 26, 2017), have a meeting with the legal representatives of SPDS to intensify the process of filing criminal charges against the responsible persons at BHRT.
