Memorial Historical Gathering Operation-Attempt to Unblock Rakovica

Organized by the Municipality of Ilidža and the Association of Veterans "Veterans of the War 1992-1995 Rakovica" on June 6, 2017, the Memorial Historical Gathering "Operation-Attempt to Unblock Rakovica" and the Day of the Local Community Rakovica were held. Numerous delegations laid flowers at the memorial, recited Fatiha, and paid tribute to all fallen fighters of Rakovica.

Fellow soldiers gathered to reminisce about that day, and students from the Ninth Elementary School performed a fitting cultural and artistic program. Sead Vreto reminded the attendees of the events of that day, stating that the Local Community Rakovica survived despite the desire for it to disappear and continues its development thanks to patriots.

- On this day, 25 years ago, Chetniks destroyed the mosque in Rakovica. At the very beginning of the aggression, Serb paramilitary units occupied the most important infrastructure facilities, barracks, warehouses, road communications, etc. In such a situation, we were prepared in advance for extermination and complete destruction, but they did not succeed. Our association nurtures tradition and respect for all those who contributed to the fight for a free BiH. This year, we also made a panel of Rakovica martyrs so that we always remember and never forget those fighters who gave their lives - said Sead Vreto, president of the Organizing Committee for holding the event.

The association redirected the funds planned for refreshments on the occasion of this date to purchase packages for the families of martyrs.
