Memić after closing arguments by BiH Prosecutor's Office: We will reach the end

(Patria) - A hearing in the "Dženan Memić" case was held at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the BiH Prosecutor's Office presented its closing arguments.

Muriz Memić and Ifet Feraget, the lawyer and friend of the Memić family, addressed the journalists.

"I have to say, Ifet told me in the courtroom, it's as if some hornet stung them. I don't know why there is so much hatred towards Ifet and me from the lawyers of the accused, but it doesn't matter. We have reached the end. Kudos to the prosecutors. They even said they didn't write down their closing arguments. This means, how much this all touched them, that they have everything in their heads - every hearing, every witness.

I wish many citizens had heard this. Thank you to everyone who came, both the media and citizens, to hear this truth. I am surprised that the families of the accused did not come, for them to also hear the truth, they are probably forbidden, they don't like the truth, but here I think the Prosecutor's Office has succeeded in proving it.

We will wait for the Court's verdict, whatever the Court decides, I will agree with it, but I must say again at the end that I will never stop, that I will go on. A new indictment is coming, and in the end, I am the supreme judge. I will reach the end, it is difficult and it is taking a long time, especially when prosecutor Ćazim Hasanspahić started talking about Dženan. Just go back to the beginning, you remember, but I am constantly watching Alisa Mutap's behavior. And now I can freely say that she is a monster who knows everything, who doesn't want to speak. And whenever she is mentioned, she turns to the Court and nods her head, as if she is surprised, but luckily the panel isn't looking at her at all, she wants to show something with that, as if she is sadly surprised. She knows everything from the beginning, but that's how it is," said Memić.

Memić said that if we had been a state of law until now, neither he, nor the journalists, nor Ifet would need to be here today.

"It's been seven years, I always say that I will definitely persevere until the end," Memić emphasized.

When asked if he thinks he will ever achieve justice, Memić said:

"Well, I say, since we have come this far, we will probably reach the end. I think we will prove it. I know they destroyed evidence, I know Esma Mutap cut up that t-shirt in front of witnesses, witnesses told me that. So, the evidence was destroyed, but there are many other pieces of evidence, and I hope we will bring it to justice. And as the prosecutors themselves said, this is being done for future generations, not because of the words of Kadrija Kolić, who denies this Court, says this Court is not competent, so which one will be competent if he sits in front of the BiH coat of arms and the BiH flag?" Memić said.

Feraget stated that the investigation is ongoing because there was no traffic accident at all.

"The judicial system, with all its flaws, is slowly recovering, and that is the only way for citizens to regain trust. Court proceedings and verdicts must be subject to public scrutiny. Two young men were killed. It indicates that the very top of the state is involved in the cover-up of the murders of both Dženan Memić and David Dragičević. This is an opportunity to prove that there is professionalism," said Feraget.
