Memić and Feraget at HJPC: Those involved in crime and corruption have no place in the judiciary

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Muriz Memić, father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, and lawyer Ifet Feraget held a meeting today with the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council Halil Lagumdžija and Vice-Presidents Sanela Gorušanović-Butigan and Biljana Simeunović.

Lawyer Feraget told Patria that a new climate is felt in the HJPC.

Although during the meeting they pointed out that they cannot interfere in the work on cases, they indicated that they were surprised and shocked by certain details from the cases of “Dženan Memić” and “David Dragičević.”

“We informed them about the omissions of the Cantonal and Federal Prosecutor's Offices and said that we are dissatisfied with the decision of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which already touches on more complex legal issues,” Feraget said for NAP, adding that “the natural decisions are dictated by the reasoning of the verdict.”

He informed them that they have two masterful verdicts by Judge Igor Todorović, each 200 pages long, in which it is more than clearly stated what did not happen.

“The first decision of the Supreme Court is sabotage, and the second is diversion,” Feraget was clear.

Feraget also informed the President and Vice-Presidents of the HJPC about the circumstances of the Dragičević case.

“They said that they are following everything and fully support it, and that there should be an end to systemic corruption and systemic crime. President Lagumdžija emphasized that the Memić and Dragičević cases must be fully resolved, that such people, if that is established, have no place in the judiciary and deserve draconian punishments,” Feraget conveyed the details of the conversation.

Feraget also informed the HJPC leaders about the omissions of the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor in the case against Dalida Burzić.

“I informed them that we have concrete evidence of concrete omissions, but that inadequate charges are filed, leading to an acquittal. We had evidence, and in the end, what happens, happens.”

Memić said that today's meeting and today's day were one of the better ones in this entire struggle, which has lasted over five years as he seeks the truth about his son's death.

“They are following the cases but cannot interfere. What particularly struck me was that they said they are ready to resign if nothing changes in the judiciary,” Memić said.
