Meloni: United States adjusted decisions on arms deliveries to Ukraine

(Patria) - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that the United States has reviewed decisions on certain components but has not halted arms deliveries to Ukraine, TASS reported.

"The United States has not stopped arms deliveries or support for Ukraine, but has reviewed the decision to send certain components," Meloni said addressing a forum organized by Italian journalist Bruno Vespa.

This is an important aspect that, however, "does not imply a complete withdrawal of the U.S., as some are trying to portray," Meloni said. To prove this, the Italian head of government said she discussed "Kyiv and trade tariffs" with U.S. President Donald Trump.

On July 2, The New York Times reported that the United States would halt deliveries of Patriot air defense system interceptor missiles, precision-guided GMLRS munitions, Hellfire guided missiles, Stinger portable rocket systems, and some other weapons to Ukraine. On Wednesday, Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned U.S. Chargé d'Affaires John Ginkel to discuss these reports.

At a press conference, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell subsequently declined to specify the types of weapons the United States is still delivering to Kyiv.

The Economist, citing Ukrainian officials, reported that the United States had halted all deliveries of American weapons and ammunition to Kyiv.

However, Trump said that Washington continues to provide military aid to Kyiv, but does so on the assumption that the United States needs those weapons.
