(Patria) - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that Rome will host the next Ukraine recovery conference from July 10 to 11, 2025, after talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky. She confirmed Italy's support for Ukraine during Zelensky's visit, AFP reported.
Meloni announced that Rome will host the next "recovery conference" to help rebuild Ukraine, after talks with President Zelensky on Thursday. Following previous conferences in Switzerland, London and Berlin, Meloni announced that the next Ukraine recovery conference will be held on July 10 and 11, 2025, in Rome.
"Ukraine is not alone and we will stand by it as long as necessary," Meloni told reporters after dinner with the Ukrainian leader.
Italy has strongly supported Kyiv in its fight against Russian forces, sending aid and weapons, although it said the latter can only be used within Ukrainian territory.
Meloni said on Thursday that Rome's support is about "putting Ukraine in the best possible position to build a negotiating table for peace, a peace that cannot be surrender."
Earlier on Thursday, Zelensky said that a ceasefire with Russia is not being discussed with European allies and called for greater Western support ahead of a difficult winter.
Zelensky will meet with Pope Francis at the Vatican today.
