Mektić in Saudi Arabia: Improving Cooperation in the Fight Against Terrorism

A delegation of the BiH Ministry of Security, led by Minister Dragan Mektić, is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where they met with the Minister of Interior and First Deputy Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz al Saud, it was announced by the ministry, reports the Patria News Agency.   

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the cooperation between the competent security agencies of Saudi Arabia and BiH is extremely good, especially in combating cross-border crime, which is carried out through intensive operational cooperation and information exchange.

It was assessed that these relations will be further improved through the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Combating Crime, which was signed by Ministers Mektić and Muhammad bin Nayef during this visit.

Cooperation in the fight against global security challenges was also discussed, and mutual readiness to exchange information and experiences in the fight against terrorism and radicalism was expressed. Minister Mektić informed Minister Al Saud about the positive reactions to the regional initiative to combat terrorism launched by the BiH Ministry of Security, the effects of which are expected very soon.

During the visit, the hosts informed the delegation of the BiH Ministry of Security about the deradicalization program implemented by that country, and it was agreed that cooperation would also be established in this area through the exchange of experiences and positive practices.

Minister Mektić assessed this visit as very significant, emphasizing that strengthening police cooperation and creating a secure environment are of key importance for attracting investors, tourists, and overall economic development of the country, the statement reads.
