Mektić on SIPA's operation: Internal security, as well as the security of neighboring countries, is being strengthened

Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić praised yesterday's operation of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) codenamed „Sunce“ in which part of an organized criminal group was arrested and a larger quantity of explosives, weapons, and drugs was seized, and expressed support for the continuation of a decisive fight against all types of serious crime, Patria reports.

Mektić emphasized that this operation shows the exceptional readiness of police agencies in uncovering and dismantling highly organized criminal groups, as well as their full commitment to countering international smuggling of weapons and narcotics.

- Considering that the seized explosives and weapons could also be used for committing terrorist and other criminal acts, BiH police agencies have thereby made a significant contribution to the security of neighboring and European countries. Also, numerous recent operational actions by SIPA are strengthening internal security, as well as citizens' trust in the rule of law through improvements in their personal and property security. In this work, SIPA, as well as all other police and security agencies, will continue to have the full support of the Ministry of Security of BiH - Mektić stated.  

We remind that two people were arrested and more than 10 kg of TNT explosives, 12.5 kg of drugs were seized, a larger quantity of the dangerous substance mercury, 4 automatic rifles, time fuse for explosives, detonator caps, and a larger quantity of ammunition were also found.
