The BiH Defence Review document, which the state Presidency will adopt by November 30, envisages a continuous increase in budget funds for the modernization and equipping of the BiH Armed Forces in the coming years, writes the Patria News Agency.
The number of BiH Armed Forces members will be 9,200. None of the brigades or battalions will be abolished. Only the number of locations used will be reduced, but not at the expense of weakening the BiH Armed Forces' capabilities.
When politicians from RS failed to push through the idea of demilitarizing BiH, while neighboring countries (Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro) still have their armies, an offensive began, first by destroying the Tactical Support Brigade and its Military Intelligence Battalion, and now, three weeks before the adoption of the Defence Review, theses are being floated that the BiH Armed Forces have only spent huge amounts of money in 10 years of existence and have not met expectations.
Šemsudin Mehmedović, a member of the Joint Defence and Security Commission of BiH, told NAP that no one has the right to advocate for reducing the number of BiH Armed Forces members.
-We must increase allocations for the BiH Armed Forces, because there is money for other unnecessary things, but when it comes to the army, let's reduce it now. Such a thing is unacceptable and it is playing with the future of this country.
As a member of the Commission, I will seek to increase budget funds for the BiH Armed Forces, because we must strengthen our army, all its capacities, and as politicians, do everything to adopt the BiH Defence Review as soon as possible and complete the registration of military property in order to activate the MAP, which is our ticket to NATO, Mehmedović points out.
