Mehmedović: Buk Bijela HPP - a symbol of genocide economy

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Will we allow a genocide economy, asks state representative Šemsudin Mehmedović and states that Buk Bijela must be declared a special zone for the national identity and history of Bosniaks, and any permission for construction would be like allowing a gas power plant in Auschwitz.

"I am telling Serbia and RS, if they want to, let them build power plants in Jasenovac. Herr Schmidt, preoccupied with the implementation of election results, is not paying attention to the essence of matters in BiH! Or is Herr Schmidt part of the deal, to distribute state property based on already agreed principles between Serbia and Croatia! WILL WE ALLOW A GENOCIDE ECONOMY: This is the most dangerous point since the war – If we allow a genocidal economy to emerge on the execution sites of Bosniaks, then we have obtained a genocide economy, and the Buk Bijela hydroelectric power plant is exactly that now," Mehmedović emphasizes.

As he says, the remains of the victims of the past war were found at the construction site of the hydroelectric power plant in Buk Bijela, nine kilometers upstream from Foča, confirmed the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina (INO BiH). 600 missing persons are still being searched for in that zone. Foča is symbolically one of the largest execution sites of Bosniaks in history.

"I disagree with those who say that graves should be investigated first, and then work should be allowed. All normal citizens in the country should sign a petition to ban construction on execution sites. We must not allow this under any circumstances because this is turning into a genocidal economy. If they get away with this, rest assured that Srebrenica, Prijedor, and Višegrad will become Disneyland of genocide. They committed a Joint Criminal Enterprise and genocide to seize BiH's energy resources, and now they are continuing with innovations of genocidal economy. In the Foča area, the remains of more than 600 people are still being searched for. Buk Bijela must be declared a special zone for the national identity and history of Bosniaks, and any permission for construction would be like allowing a gas power plant in Auschwitz. I am telling Serbia and RS, if they want to, let them build power plants in Jasenovac," concludes Mehmedović, recalling the information from the Institute for Missing Persons that the remains of 43 victims were found in Buk Bijela in 2006, when investigative actions were carried out at this location.

"In May 2021, the foundation stone for the construction of the hydroelectric power plant, jointly built by Serbia and Republika Srpska, was laid at the same location. Construction began despite all the efforts of the Victims' Association 'Foča 92-95' to stop the project until a detailed examination of the terrain is carried out, as there are well-founded suspicions that the remains of forcibly disappeared persons are still located at the Buk Bijela site," stated INO BiH.
