Mehemed Vukalić sentenced to 42 years in prison for triple murder in Sanski Most

(Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Bihać today delivered a verdict to Mehemed Vukalić, accused of the triple murder that shook Sanski Most in August last year. According to the indictment, Vukalić killed the principal Nijaz Halilović, secretary Nisveta Kljunić, and English teacher Gordana Midžan with an automatic rifle on the premises of the Sanski Most High School.

Mehemed Vukalić was sentenced to 42 years in prison, 14 years for each of his victims, including one year for illegal possession of weapons, which he has already served in prison, RTVUSK reports.

We remind you that the trial began on January 10, 2025, with a pre-trial hearing at which the defense and the prosecution agreed on the method of evidence presentation.

During the main trial, the prosecution heard several witnesses and presented extensive material documentation and expert opinions.

The families of the murdered, who followed the entire process with great emotional burden, told us on several previous occasions that the trial was extremely painful and difficult for them, and they also expressed the expectation that the court would impose a long prison sentence. As they told us in the past, only then would justice for their loved ones be, at least partially, served.
