(Patria) - Former Russian President and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Saturday that Moscow could annex more regions of Ukraine, AFP reported.
Moscow held elections in four regions this month, but does not fully control any of them and is currently fighting a Ukrainian counteroffensive to keep them.
- The special military operation will continue until the complete destruction of the Nazi regime in Kyiv. Victory will be ours. And there will be new regions within Russia - said Medvedev, who currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia.
Russia uses the term "new regions" to refer to the Ukrainian territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson, which Moscow claimed to have annexed last September.
President Vladimir Putin earlier addressed the nation on the anniversary of the annexations, calling them a historic choice by the people living there to reunite with the "Motherland".
