International Legal Experts: Israel is Committing Genocide in Gaza

(Patria) - The University Network for Human Rights conducted a thorough legal analysis of Israel's actions since October 7, 2023, along with other experts and law school clinics, determining that the country has violated the Genocide Convention.

"Specifically, Israel has committed genocidal acts of killing, causing serious bodily harm, and inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians in Gaza, a protected group constituting a substantial part of the Palestinian people," the group of international legal experts stated.

The experts submitted their 100-page report, titled "Genocide in Gaza: An International Law Analysis and Its Application to Israeli Military Operations Since October 7, 2023," to several UN officials.

- The findings of this report warn other states that they have an obligation not to participate in Israel's unprecedented violations of the prohibition of genocide and to work together to prevent and punish such acts.

The findings also serve to strengthen current legal cases against Israel at the International Court of Justice and against the Biden administration in a U.S. federal court.

This offensive is extreme in a number of ways: the deadliest conflict for journalists and aid workers ever recorded. The fastest rate of starvation in the world has been recorded, and more children have been killed in four months than in all conflicts in the last four years combined.
