(Patria) - The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova.
The statement from the International Criminal Court (ICC) states that there are reasonable grounds to believe that the Russian leader bears criminal responsibility for the war crime of unlawful deportation of the population (children) and unlawful transfer of the population (children) from the occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation in Ukrainian occupied territory.
It is also stated that there are reasonable grounds to believe that Maria Lvova-Belova bears individual criminal responsibility for the war crime of unlawful deportation of the population (children) and unlawful transfer of the population (children) from the occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.
The Russian Federation, under the command of Vladimir Putin, began aggression against Ukraine in February 2022. Russia is under severe economic sanctions from the West because of this.
