International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

(Patria) - Today, November 29, all free and brave people of the world stand with the Palestinian people, marking this date as the International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine.

In 1947, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution No. 181 on the partition of Palestine, which led to the expulsion of a people from their land and the deprivation of their homeland, a people who became dependent on the will and trade of the international community.

None of the numerous UN resolutions, including Resolution 194 on the return of refugees and Resolution 242 on the withdrawal of the Israeli occupier from Palestinian land, have been implemented, making them the most cited and least respected decisions in the history of this organization.

Thirty years after the partition of Palestine, on December 2, 1977, the Palestine Liberation Organization - PLO, led by Yasser Arafat, with the support of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of African Unity, and the Islamic Conference, as well as friendly European countries led by Germany, succeeded by a majority vote at the 32nd session of the United Nations General Assembly in passing the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is observed every November 29.

Today, 138 countries recognize the State of Palestine, and its flag flies alongside the flags of other United Nations member states. However, Palestinians do not feel this progress, and we witness that the Israeli occupying forces have continued to violate international law, killing Palestinian civilians, imprisoning and torturing children, destroying homes and crops, and freely exploiting Palestinian natural resources and water.

Settlements are growing, gangs of terrorist settlers attack holy Christian and Muslim sites daily, and the occupation regime arrogantly considers international law to apply to everyone except Israel.

Millions of people are unable to meet their most basic needs due to severe shortages of food, water, fuel, and medicine as a result of the continuous blockade and aggression by the Israeli occupier.

Despite all these difficult decades of suffering, the occupation regime has not realized that the people of Palestine have an ever-increasing desire to live, refusing to be humiliated and occupied. The Palestinian people confront the heavily armed occupation regime daily, with arrogant settlers perpetrating all forms of racism and denying Palestinians their rights with the support of the Israeli right-wing government and institutions that turn a blind eye to the crimes.

Although the issue of Palestine seems complicated and hopeless, the solution is obvious: It is high time for the United Nations and all signatory countries of the Geneva Conventions to implement the adopted resolutions and international conventions and end the suffering of the Palestinians in the only possible way: by affirming the Palestinian right of return, recognizing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and forcing the Israeli occupation regime to respect international laws and conventions.

The Palestinian people have bravely chosen the path of peace, and their efforts include political, diplomatic, and legal actions to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that fulfills legitimate national aspirations and interests, announced the Palestinian Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
