International Human Trafficking: Searches in Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, and Zavidovići areas

(Patria) - Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency are conducting the operational action "NID" today (12.11.2025) in the areas of Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, and Zavidovići.

The operational action "NID" is focused on searching residential buildings and movable property owned or used by suspects, at three locations, as well as the temporary seizure of items that can serve as evidence in the commission of the criminal offenses of "Organized Crime", "International Human Trafficking", and "Money Laundering" prescribed by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the criminal offense of "Human Trafficking" prescribed by the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the criminal offense of "Human Trafficking", prescribed by the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska.

Searches are being conducted under the order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, and Zenica-Doboj Canton.

During the work on the case to gather information and evidence, cooperation was established with the police authorities of the Republic of Serbia, the Service for Combating Organized Crime (SBPOK). Support was provided by the Center for the Implementation of Law Enforcement in Southeast Europe – “SELEC”.

In order to gather information in the previous period, intensive cooperation was also established with the non-governmental organization “Vaša Prava BiH”.

The aforementioned activities were carried out with the support of the EU project to strengthen the fight against migrant smuggling and human trafficking in the Western Balkans (EU4FAST).
