International Conference in Sarajevo: Taxation in the European Gambling Industry

The European Organization for Gambling Regulation (EOGL) announces the international conference "Taxation in the European Gambling Industry", which it is organizing on Wednesday, January 25th in the Golden Hall of the Radon Plaza Hotel in Sarajevo, writes Patria.

 

Speakers will include Nikos Roumnakis, President of the European Organization for Gambling Regulation, Pierre Tournier, European expert on harmonizing European legislation on online betting with EU institutions, Pieter Paepe, internationally recognized expert in EU law and gambling, financial expert prof. dr. Izudin Kešetović (University of Tuzla, Faculty of Economics), economic expert prof. dr. Hasan Mahmutović, professor at the Faculty of Economics in Zenica, Marina Habuš, secretary of the Association of Sports Betting Companies from Croatia, Tatjana Šćepanović, general secretary of the Montenegrin association of operators Montenegro Bet, Stjepko Čordaš, director of the company NSOFT d.o.o. Mostar, lawyer Sanja Iličić-Lukenda, as well as representatives of gambling operators from the Federation of BiH.

Invitations to attend and speak have also been sent to the President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Tax Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, delegates of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Association of Municipalities and Cities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Speakers will present to the audience models and best practices for taxing gambling in Western European countries with stable fiscal regimes, provide reviews and analyses of the current and proposed legal regulations for this activity in the Federation of BiH, and discuss possible financial effects.

We expect the conference, the first of its kind in BiH, to clarify and present positive legal models for taxing the gambling industry in the European Union and to assist the Government of the FBiH, if interested, in adopting a new Law on Gambling that will regulate this activity, while also being in line with positive Western European regulations, bringing maximum benefit to the budget of the Federation of BiH, citizens of the Federation of BiH, players, and operators, state the European Organization for Gambling Regulation.
