Media: Croatian politicians seek salvation for Aluminij only after the company's end is announced

MOSTAR, (Patria) - Representatives in the House of Representatives and delegates in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have asked the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for an urgent solution to problems that would enable the continuation of Aluminij d.d. Mostar's operations.

In the past few years, Aluminij has been operating at a loss, and the company's total debt amounts to almost 400 million marks, of which more than half is debt for consumed electricity.

Dražen Pandža, acting director of Aluminij, said at today's press conference that this company will most likely cease operations after midnight on Friday, explaining that only a miracle could save Aluminij.

The portal Bljesak from Mostar reports that Croatian representatives are seeking salvation for Aluminij only after the announcement that it is the end.

During the day, the Prime Minister of HNK and the Mayor of Mostar, Nevenko Herceg and Ljubo Bešlić, also reacted. "But, obviously with a delay," the Bljesak text states.

Naša stranka (Our Party) announced today that HDZ BiH is responsible for the situation in Aluminij, which, as criticized by Naša stranka, has been used as its own credit card for decades.

A group of workers blocked the main road near Mostar today in response to the situation in Aluminij.

Dnevni list publishes a statement from the president of the Independent Trade Union of Aluminij Employees, Romeo Biokšić. He said that from 2010 to the present, eight managements have changed at Aluminij, and all of them operated at a loss, but no one has been held accountable for the current state of the factory. "Our directors received abnormally high salaries in a factory that is drowning in debt," said Biokšić, reports the Patria agency.
