Mediha Salkičević accused of terrorism appeared in court in Chicago

One of the six Bosnian immigrants in the US accused of sending money and weapons to terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq, Mediha Medy Salkičević, appeared in court in Chicago, American media report, according to the Patria News Agency.

Like the other accused, she is charged with providing material support to terrorists and groups that the US has declared foreign terrorist organizations, including ISIL.

Mediha is a mother of four children. When the indictment was read, she stated that she understood it and, if convicted, could be sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of $50,000 for each charge.  

Tomorrow, it will be decided whether Salkičević will travel to Missouri, where the trial will be held, or remain in custody in Chicago.

In addition to Mediha Salkičević, the accused are Ramiz Zijad Hodžić (40) and his wife Sedina Unkić Hodžić (35), and Armin Harčević (37), all from St. Louis County, Nihad Rosić (26) from Utica, New York, and Jasminka Ramić (42) from Rockford, Illinois.

Five of the accused have been arrested, while the sixth is abroad.
