Srebrenica Memorial Center: Prosecution should question Višković about his role in genocide

(Patria) - The Srebrenica Memorial Center today shared several documents with the public concerning how the VRS procured and mobilized vehicles for the transportation of prisoners and executions. The Memorial Center emphasized the importance of the public recognizing that the organization of prisoner transport from collection points to execution sites was one of the key logistical operations in carrying out the genocide.

In this regard, the Memorial Center specifically clarified the circumstances related to the Sandići location, which is linked to Radovan Višković's role in the genocide.

"On July 13, at the meadow location near the village of Sandići, the VRS gathered all prisoners and individuals who surrendered from the column of men and boys. Approximately 1,000 prisoners from the meadow in Sandići and other locations were transferred to the agricultural cooperative warehouse in Kravica, and about 4,000 were transferred to Bratunac to the primary school and other facilities. This second segment includes those mentioned in the transcripts that have recently become public, representing testimonies and documentation repeatedly confirmed before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the Memorial Center stated.

Transcripts of documents indicate that Višković was involved in the operation of transporting 700 people from the meadow in Sandići. The documentation confirming this is found in the final submission of the defense to Ljubomir Borovčanin, and in the verdicts against Ljubiša Beara and Vujadin Popović.

"What has been unequivocally established and confirmed by the verdicts is that the individuals who were taken away by bus from Sandići were, without exception, taken for execution," stated the Srebrenica Memorial Center.

The Srebrenica Memorial Center calls on the BiH Prosecutor's Office to summon Radovan Višković for questioning, believing that the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska must account for his role in the genocide in light of all evidence pointing to his participation. They also demand that the BiH Prosecutor's Office immediately apprehend Milorad Kojić for announcing that he would reveal the identities of protected witnesses.
