(Patria) - Thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched across Europe calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless bombardment by Israeli forces for the past four weeks.
In London, a large number of demonstrators gathered at Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus, and then at Trafalgar Square.
Many carried banners saying "Free Palestine" and chanted slogans "ceasefire now".
Police said they had arrested 11 people. One person was arrested for displaying a poster that could incite hatred, contrary to terrorism laws.
Britain has supported Israel's right to defend itself after Hamas killed 1,400 people and took more than 240 hostages in an attack on southern Israel on October 7.

Thousands of demonstrators also marched through the central streets of Paris on Saturday to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. They called for a ceasefire with posters saying "Stop the cycle of violence" and "To do nothing, to say nothing means to be complicit".
This was one of the first major pro-Palestinian rallies legally permitted in Paris since October 7.
French authorities had banned some previous pro-Palestinian gatherings due to concerns about public disorder.
A large number also gathered in Berlin, waving Palestinian flags and demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.
