Amor Mašović, a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH, says that for him, the arrest of those charged with war crimes is not news, but that the top news would be if they were arrested for genocide against Bosniaks in Kravica, writes the Patria news agency.
- There is a Hague verdict that genocide, not a war crime, was committed in Srebrenica. These are two different indictments and two concepts that have nowhere near the same meaning.
A war crime is lower-ranking than genocide, and the indictment should be based precisely on genocide. To me, this says one thing - Serbia is still not ready to come to grips with the past, as Bruno Vekarić claims, Mašović emphasizes for Patria.
Mašović notes that even in the case of the „Škorpioni“, the shooting of Srebrenica residents in Godinjske bare was characterized as a war crime, not genocide.
So it is now in the case of Kravica. It was not a war crime, he says, but genocide, and this must be constantly emphasized.
- We have a witness, a Serb, who claims that right there, he witnessed mass executions, when captured Bosniaks were brought by bus to be shot. He watched those killings, Mašović claims.
In his opinion, Serbia falsely shows the world that it is ready for cooperation, that it arrests criminals, but by distorting the facts, it is actually sticking a finger in the eye of the victims.
