He made this post after numerous American media outlets reported that two senior USAID security officials were suspended following a conflict with DOGE staff.
Namely, as CNN reports, two senior USAID officials, including security director John Vorhis and his deputy, were placed on administrative leave on Saturday evening after they refused to allow staff from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), founded by Elon Musk, access to the agency's systems, CNN reports citing multiple sources.
DOGE staff physically attempted to enter USAID headquarters in Washington but were stopped. According to two sources, they insisted on being granted access, even threatening to call U.S. Marshals to ensure entry.
Three sources state that they tried to gain access to security systems and personnel files, while two of them claim they also wanted access to classified information.
USAID distributes billions of dollars annually around the world for poverty alleviation, disease treatment, and response to famine and natural disasters. According to the Congressional Research Service, the agency has more than 10,000 employees (not counting contract workers), two-thirds of whom are stationed abroad.
