Mašić on the situation at KCUS: Izetbegović is making bad moves, and patients are paying the price

SDP BiH is the only political party that raised the issue of Sebija Izetbegović's dismissal at the FBiH Parliament session, and at that time we were 9 votes short of obliging the Government to resolve the situation through the Supervisory Board, said Damir Mašić, political director of SDP BiH, reports Patria News Agency.

Commenting on the developments at KCUS and the dismissal of Prof. Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović from the position of Head of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology, he stated that the way he was dismissed is best explained by professionals, i.e., doctors and his colleagues from the department and the Clinic.

- They know best what the situation is like there, and I congratulate them on their courage, considering the terror that reigns there, for their courage to publicly stand up in defense of their colleague, not by name and surname, but in defense of principles and expertise and everything that a Clinical Center should have - said Mašić.

He emphasized that this is another reason why the person currently managing the Clinical Center should not be in that position.

- Because she is not coping, she is making bad moves, and jeopardizing the general viability of KCUS. Our biggest problem is that she is the wife of the SDA president. Because if that were not the case, the situation would have been resolved earlier. Ms. Izetbegović is leading KCUS to ruin by removing all dissenters and driving them from their positions, which is why dozens of top experts have ended up in Europe and around the world because there was no place for them at KCUS.

Mašić believes that it is high time to separate expertise and politics, because the insured are paying the highest price.

- Insured individuals pay the price of poor management of the Clinical Center every day, and KCUS cannot make savings at the expense of people's health. This is not GRAS, where you can cancel a few lines, reduce expenses, etc. Savings cannot be made on medicines, medical aids, in order to save money. Unfortunately, I fear that we will have to wait until 2018 for things to start moving and fall into place - said Mašić.
