Mašić: It is unacceptable that there is no reaction from the Government to the catastrophic situation at KCUS

SDP MP in the Parliament of the Federation Damir Mišić will request that the agenda of today's parliamentary session include the issue of doctors leaving the University Clinical Center in Sarajevo, as well as the conditions of treatment in the country's largest healthcare institution, Mišić confirmed for the Patria agency.

Three surgeons from the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology are leaving the University Clinical Center in Sarajevo and moving to the "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" General Hospital, Patria reported on Monday evening.

Dr. Semin Bećirbegović, Dr. Senad Maksić, and Dr. Hasan Tanović are moving to the General Hospital. 

Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović, Dr. Mirza Biščević, and Dr. Mehmed Jamakosmanović, as well as several other doctors, have also announced their departure from the Clinic.

Out of 17 surgeons at the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology, six will be leaving this clinic next month.

The departure of doctors from KCUS is a response to the deteriorated interpersonal relationships at KCUS.

Dr. Sebija Izetbegović, wife of SDA president and member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović, was appointed head of KCUS at the beginning of 2016. Since then, more than 40 doctors, including a dozen professors, have left KCUS. 

Doctors complain about mobbing and the lack of basic work resources. They warn that all of this affects the quality of services they provide to patients.

The SDP believes that it is unacceptable for all of this to happen without any reaction from the Federal Ministry of Health and the Government of FBiH. They state that the Parliament has an obligation to react and protect citizens who are the biggest victims of the events at KCUS.
