(Patria) - An accident occurred this morning on Bjelašnica when a minor skier, aged 17, veered off the trail and got lost. According to information received by the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton (MUP KS), the skier's disappearance was reported at 11:45 AM, while he was found at 12:50 PM by the MUP KS Support Unit.
The skier, according to his friend's account, got off the six-seater chairlift around 10 AM and then lost control, veering off the trail near Kotlovi. Due to the difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions, the search was hampered. Members of the Mountain Rescue Service participated in the operation, searching the area together with the police.
The unfortunate skier was found and immediately transported to the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS). According to initial information, he sustained serious bodily injuries, but the exact nature of the injuries is not yet known.
The accident site, Ski lift Kotlovi, is located at an altitude of 2,067 meters above sea level, on one of the most demanding sections of Bjelašnica. The terrain is steep, difficult to access, exposed to strong winds and low temperatures, which further complicated the rescue operation.
This incident highlights the dangers skiers can face on challenging trails, and above all, an appeal is made to all ski resort visitors to be cautious and adhere to safety rules while skiing.
