Magyar after a great victory: We have no time to lose, we don't want any wars

(Patria) - Hungary and Hungarians wrote history yesterday, said Péter Magyar at his first press conference after defeating Viktor Orban in the parliamentary elections on Sunday.

"History is being made in real time," he added.

After 16 years of Orban's rule, Magyar pointed out that his Fidesz party had "an entire propaganda machine" behind it. He accused them of "spreading lies, morning, noon, and night".

"The entire state apparatus was run by the ruling party, not much different from what we had in the 1980s," said Magyar, adding that without it, his party would have won even more seats.

Magyar informed reporters that his party would have 138 out of a total of 199 MPs in parliament, although some votes are still being counted. He described the result as "a mandate like never seen before - never have so many people voted for the same party".

Magyar announced that he expects the transfer of power to be swift. "We expect the transition process to be fast and short," he said. He called on Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok to convene parliament "as soon as possible".

He called on the Hungarian president to entrust him with the mandate to form a new government as soon as possible.

"Our country has no time to lose."

The future prime minister assessed that Hungary, under Orban's leadership, was "robbed, betrayed, indebted, and devastated". "We have become the poorest and most corrupt country in the EU," he added. Despite this, Magyar promised that his new government would "represent every Hungarian".

Magyar sent a message of reassurance to his neighbors and the region, emphasizing that Hungary would not interfere in the internal affairs of Balkan countries, Spain, Slovakia, and other states, but added that he expects the same from them, that they respect Hungary as an independent state.

"I would tell every Hungarian and the whole world: Hungary does not want war, we are a party of peace!"
