Magazinović for NAP: EU demands from BiH and the region to first tackle organized crime

STRASBOURG, (Patria) - The European Commission today adopted the strategy for "Credible enlargement perspective and enhanced EU engagement with the Western Balkans".

Member of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina Saša Magazinović (SDP) attended the presentation of the Strategy in Strasbourg:

"What is important to emphasize is the positive message that for the first time since the Thessaloniki Summit, the perspective of our region, and thus BiH, regarding EU membership is clearly emphasized. European Union leaders have particularly emphasized, and I also emphasize as an important message, which I clearly understood in these two days of interaction with MPs and everyone involved in drafting the Strategy, is that countries must reform and progress, especially in terms of tackling organized crime, with an additional emphasis on the connection between politics and crime," Magazinović said in a comment for the Patria news agency.

"It is evident that we will not get candidate status as announced by politicians in BiH. We will get it only after the elections and the formation of new governments," Magazinović added.

He also points out that the message is clear that BiH has a perspective, but "with the current politicians and political habits, the country will not get very far."

"The connection between crime and the ruling structures in the countries of the region must be destroyed and defeated," Magazinović concluded.
