Magazinović: The path to NATO is becoming even more important than the path to the EU

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The draft Annual National Programme of Bosnia and Herzegovina, proposed by the Commission for NATO Integration Process of BiH, will be on the Council of Ministers' agenda for the third time on January 15.

Discussion on this issue was avoided the last two times. Ministers from SDS are not prepared to support this program.    

Saša Magazinović, SDP MP in the State Parliament, points out that 'as things stand, by refusing to adopt the Annual National Programme which would activate the MAP, the Council of Ministers in its current composition is extending its term'.

- As paradoxical as it may sound, SNSD is preserving Mektić, Crnadak and Šarović in ministerial positions with such a political stance. They should explain to the public why they are doing this, as well as to the people from SNSD who are waiting to take positions in the state government in coalition with SDA and HDZ after they jointly elected the leadership of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament – Magazinović tells Patria.

He reminds that the MAP is a state obligation that was formed based on a request submitted on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the then-Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Nebojša Radmanović.

- This is an international obligation that was accepted by Milorad Dodik himself, who was also the leader of SNSD at the time, and without whom Radmanović could certainly not have made such a significant move for the state. This makes the current challenging of that decision even more senseless.

For us in SDP, activating the MAP is very important, and we support all activities that lead in that direction. The path to NATO, in the current circumstances, is becoming even more important than the path to the EU. 

SDP was in opposition during the previous term, and judging by the agreement reached by SDA, HDZ, and SNSD, it will remain so in this term as well. The most important thing is that the institutions function, and people are transient, both those currently in office and those who will come – Magazinović notes.
