Magazinović: Unprecedented humiliation of the state and Border Police of BiH

Worryingly poor working conditions of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina have prompted Saša Magazinović, a Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and President of the Main Board of SDP BiH, to raise this issue in parliamentary benches. He is asking for the public to be informed whether there is an analysis of the situation and working conditions of the Border Police, and what has been done specifically in the past year to improve border crossings and enhance the working conditions of the Border Police of BiH.

Magazinović warns that at certain border crossings, our Border Police do not even have adequate basic conditions to meet hygienic and physiological needs, which is an unprecedented humiliation of the state and the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- As in previous years, there are numerous examples of inadequate infrastructural prerequisites, as well as disrespect for the state and its symbols through torn and/or dirty national flags. Bearing all this in mind, we seek an answer, but also a suggestion on what the Parliamentary Assembly can do to significantly improve the situation - said Magazinović.

The question has been sent to the Director of the Border Police of BiH, Zoran Galić, with the aim, as Magazinović states, to stand by the people who wear the coat of arms of this country on their uniforms and through whom the negligence and neglect of the authorities are felt.

- It should not be forgotten that according to the provisions of the Law on Border Control, the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH is responsible for the construction, expansion, renovation, management, and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure at border crossings. I call on the representatives of all competent institutions not to resort to shifting responsibility, but to do everything within their capabilities to improve the situation at border crossings. Due to someone's negligence and incompetence, our police officers are working in catastrophic conditions. We can rightly ask if there is an end to the shame that this government brings to the country and its citizens - Magazinović points out.
