Hungarian Prime Minister Orban: Ukraine is not a sovereign state

(Patria) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated yesterday that Ukraine is not a sovereign state, responding to accusations that Hungarian reconnaissance drones violated Ukrainian airspace at a time when tensions between Kyiv and Budapest are growing.

- Ukraine is not at war with Hungary, it is at war with Russia. It should take care of drones on its eastern border.

I believe my ministers, but let's imagine that (the drone) really flew a few meters there, so what? Ukraine is not an independent state.

Ukraine is not a sovereign state. We are financing Ukraine, the West is providing funds, weapons - said the Hungarian Prime Minister.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Friday that reconnaissance drones had violated Ukrainian airspace, citing a preliminary military report according to which the aircraft came from Hungary to survey the industrial potential of the border areas.

Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto rejected this accusation, saying that Zelenskyy "is losing his mind".

Hungary announced yesterday that it will block the operation of twelve Ukrainian portals following a similar move by Kyiv, which is an additional sign of growing tensions between the two countries.

Earlier this month, Ukraine blocked various websites deemed to hold pro-Russian views at the request of security services. The sites included eight Hungarian-language portals, one of which was the pro-government site origo.hu.
